Today I am going to be throwing together an all new PC for media consumption and some light gaming for ~$200. My goal for this build was to put together a desktop that could handle 1080p local video playback and streaming off sites like YouTube and Netflix. I also wanted this system to be capable of partaking in some light gaming.
I think this build accomplished both of the goals mentioned above. It can play back 1080P video without issues and older games such as Left 4 Dead and Portal run at a playable frame-rate while set to medium settings. Newer less demanding games such as Fortnite and Minecraft are also playable on this system at low to medium settings. However, don’t expect demanding newer titles to run well on this system, FarCry 5 was completely unplayable on this build.
